This news is cool enough to be shared to you

A while after I finished the last task given by dr. Rob, good news came to me. I was called by my coordinator that Ms. Stacie wants to talk to me. She give me Ms. Stacie's phone number and ask me to call here ASAP. When I called her, Ms. Stacie said that I was selected to join the Youth Tech Camp at Vermont. I'm so glad and can't wait to fly to Vermont this weekend.

Now, I'm counting down for the #YouthTechCampVT #GNML #campchamp !

The most important thing I learned in GNML online program

The most important thing I learned in GNML online program is when I know that I cannot participate at the camp in Vermont this April.
I learned to stay graceful when I'm not getting something that I want really bad.
I learned to give more effort to something that I want really bad.
I learned to more appreciate another people's effort who want same thing that I want really bad.
I learned to finish what I've started, such as this program.
There are still many more things that I learned from GNML online program, that I can't describe one by one. But still, the moment when I know that I cannot participate at the camp in Vermont this April, gave me the most important thing I learnd in GNML online program.

The most challenging experience of GNML online program

The most challenging experience of GNML online program is when I decided my project idea.
It challenged me because it takes a time to research what problem in my country, that at least I can try to help solve it. And as a student, I realized that education is one of the biggest aspect in my life for now. Not only that, it also challenged me to choose more specific problem, which finally I chose drop out and fighting between students from different school.
It challenged me more when I have to make a brief explanation --which is the first post in this blog-- about my project idea. I have to make people understand about my project, and even better people support it.
It makes me think that deciding my project idea as the most challenging experience of GNML online program.

The most rewarding experience of GNML online program

The most rewarding experience of GNML online program is when I was making my elevator pitch video.
I learned how to explore the idea that I have more. For example, my project goals are to empowering drop-out students and make peace between students from different school, but I have to explore my goals more so it's easier to understand by another people.
I also learned how to present my idea to another people. I have to make it interesting. I learned that simple animation and background music make my video a bit more interesting.
Those make me think that the elevator pitch video project is the most rewarding experience of GNML online program.

p.s: don't forget to see my video! i posted it below this post :)

Education as One of Big Problem in Indonesia

Education is one of the most important thing in every country, besides economy, politic, etc. Education quality in one country determine how the future of that country going to be. Indonesia, as a developing country still have a lot of problems in education, which makes education as one of big problem in Indonesia.

One of the problems is high number of students who get dropped out from school. Mainly, the reason is because their parents can't afford school tuition or buy additional things such as books or uniforms. Even though there are many public school in Indonesia which free the tuition to their students, but they still ask money for books or uniforms fee. A lot of low economic citizens in Indonesia suffer this problem. And mainly  students who get dropped out from school continue their life activities for helping their family economy, such as work with their parents or just hanging around with another dropped out students, which is not a good thing to do as a child or teenager. How pity.

Another problem is, there are many fights between students from different schools. Teenagers mainly cannot maintain their emotion, which makes students in Indonesia which are teenagers easy to fight with another student. The fights between students are so dangerous, which include weapons such as motorcycle gears, swords, or rocks. In fact, some students die or get injured because the fight. How scary.

Social media, as one of biggest thing in students life, have to take part to resolve this problem. Giving free educational materials such as math modules, physics modules, etc. can help dropped out students to keep track of what they supposed to learn at school. Concerning about lack of internet access at rural area, there are many new internet bus which come to rural area in Indonesia, and also the internet cafe which really affordable and also reach rural area. Social media is also able to build a peaceful relationship between students from another schools. Geosmart, Geschool, and Fodboo are the example. These social media help connect students in Indonesia, provide educational materials, and another useful stuffs for students in Indonesia. Even though these sites still in development, it's proved that social media also useful for education.

P.S: Check these cool sites out!
